All India Radio,
Cuttack is of 1948 vintage and is one of the first
groups of stations started after independence.
It went on air in the evening of 28th January, 1948
Initially it started with
only 1 KW MW transmitter located in Killa Fort area at
Cuttack. The station had its office and studio complex
shifted to the present permanent location on Dr.
Prana Krushna Parija Marg(Cantonment Road), Cuttack.
It has served the audience with the purpose and the
mission that it was set up. With the passage of time
many more stations have been set up to cater to the

VIIVIDH BHARATI-COMMERCIAL BROADCASTING SERVICE:
Vividh Bharati Service commenced at Cuttack as a
separate channel with a 1 KW transmitter during
August, 1962. From May 1975, commercials were
introduced to generate some revenue. Vividh
Bharati Service broadcasts on 1314 KHZ MW
corresponding to 228.3 metres.
The reach of the programmes beamed over the VB
transmitter covers the district of Cuttack,
parts of the district of Khurda,
Dhenkanal,Jagatsinghpur.
